A Japanese winemaker aims to create a California wine that pairs well with delicate Japanese cuisine

The wine name Noria means waterwheel in Spanish. This brand name was chosen because the image of water, nature, and the basic energy of life that is associated with waterwheels overlaps with the elements of wine. Wine is a part of life, and like fireworks that brighten up your life at any moment, so the countless white dots in the logo represent both water splashes and fireworks. The winemaker is Michihisa Nakamura. He got a job at a hotel in Japan, obtained a sommelier qualification, and was assigned to the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. There, he fell in love with California wine and left his job to become a winemaker. While studying at UC Davis, he worked at a winery in Napa, and after graduating, he gained experience at Napa Wine Company, where he was exposed to the attitudes and techniques of famous winemakers such as Heidi Barrett, and has worked as an assistant winemaker and winemaker at several wineries. Noria's goal was to create a wine that would go well with Japanese food, and after carefully selecting grapes and regions suitable for that, in 2010 they found grapes from San Giacomo, a renowned farmer on the Sonoma Coast, and released Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. From the 2014 VTG, Sauvignon Blanc was added to the lineup, as well as Pinot Noir from a new vineyard. This wine is the realization of the American Dream in California.
